Currently, I do not have internet at my house, so I'm typing this at school, which doesn't give me the same time or relaxation as when I type at home.  Nevertheless, here we go!

Lately I have been thinking about the state of the union.  The United States will be 238 years old on July 4 of this year.  The country is still relatively young.  Already, we have drifted - if not paddled - very, very far away from the moral truths that this country was founded upon.  People can argue this point until they die, but the fact is that our founding fathers were most definitely Christians, believers in the Bible and supporters of Truth.  The facts don't lie.  Just read some of their early documents:

"While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian" (George Washington, The Writings of Washington).
"Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God ... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be" (John Adams, Diary and Autobiography of John Adams).
"I am a real Christian – that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ" (Thomas Jefferson, The Writings of Thomas Jefferson).
"Here is my Creed. I believe in one God, the Creator of the Universe. That He governs it by His Providence. That He ought to be worshipped..." (Benjamin Franklin).
Today, it feels like our country is as far left as it can go without completely falling off the plane.  And yes, this is a problem.  Many US citizens vote for a president based only on the shade of skin (because, you see, there is really no such thing as "race"; it is only a social construct that people use as an advantageous quality).  Since 2010, US citizens have now begun to support same-sex marriage (above 50%) (The New York Times).  Ironically, 77% of US citizens still say they are Christian (Gallup.com), but those who actually walk with God are very few and far between.

Every weekday I walk through the doors leading into free, public education.  And nearly everyday I leave feeling rather defeated.  It doesn't matter what I know.  It doesn't matter what I believe.  It doesn't matter what I say.  It doesn't matter what I teach - UNLESS what I say and do falls on listening ears who actually use the knowledge.  I am not saying I am all-knowing or even "smart".  What I am saying is that our current state of the union is one of mass confusion.

Very few people know what is right and wrong anymore.  Very few people hold onto a certain level of personal integrity.  Very few people show signs of personal responsibility, humility, kindness, and respect.

Yet this is the very reason I went into public education: to be a voice of Truth to the deepest and darkest places of moral void.  Education is highly important and should be highly valued.  I honestly do enjoy my job a majority of the time.  As I said, I desire to shine the light of Jesus into the lives of the many students who walk through the same doors I do, but who are broken, hurting, angry, confused, and abused.

The current state of our union can be best identified when looking at the youth of our nation.  And I see the youth - literally hundreds of them - every school day.  Students are confused.  They are receiving mixed messages everywhere they look: at church; at home; on TV; in music; in movies; at school; from peers.  How does one decipher what is right and what is wrong from the multitude of ideas and influences today?

This state of moral confusion in the United States is partly due to the Federal Government.  Leadership is important.  "Without vision, the people perish" (Proverbs 29:18).  Without strong leadership, the people will be lost.  Right now in the United States, the people are lost because the leadership is weak.

I'm not talking about one man.  I'm talking about the leadership in many areas: the government; the schools; the home.

I will end my little rant here.  I will not add to the confusion by stating my opinions.  The world is full of opinions and differing beliefs.  I do my best to state the Truth, which is found in the Word of God.  And the Truth is this: Unless we humble ourselves on an individual level and repent of our wicked ways, turning our eyes wholeheartedly to God, our nation will continue to plummet rapidly toward the pits of hell.  The Truth is, many will perish, for wide is the gate that leads to Death and many find it, but narrow is the gate that leads to Life and few find it ().  My calling and purpose as a disciple of Jesus Christ is to never grow weary of shining the Light of Life He has given to my soul; never growing tired of pointing all those I come in contact with toward Jesus, the Light of Heaven (John 1).

Stand up for Truth, O Christian!  Be a voice of Reason and of Life in this darkened world of Confusion!

"Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
my cause is disregarded by my God”?
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint"
(Isaiah 40:27-31).
